My mentorship programme offers a unique opportunity to receive personalized guidance and support in photography and journalism. The lengthy 11-monthly programme runs from September 1 to August of the following year and costs £960 per month per person. I only accept a limited number of max four candidates per length of the programme, with the option to take up to three other candidates for a short monthly rolling programme of a specific nature.

You can choose to pay monthly, or you can pay for the entire eleven-month programme upfront and receive a 10% discount. During the programme, you’ll receive two weeks of 3 to 6 contact hours, with one week off in between. Each contact hour, whether in person, over the phone, or via Zoom, can be 1 to 2 hours long and will include a brief consultation followed by feedback.

Starting in April of the following year, you’ll be passed over to our supervisory programme, where I will oversee your workflow and help you achieve your career goals until the end of the programme.

Since the inception of my VX Pictures Mentorship Program in 2017, I have been committed to developing some of the brightest new talents in the photography profession. My program is designed to provide professional development opportunities for emerging photographers who are recognised as having the potential to make significant contributions to the industry. I am particularly interested in engaging with new talent from underrepresented communities and promoting diversity and inclusivity in the field.

Throughout the mentorship program, participants will work closely with me to develop their skills and refine their professional practice in their chosen area of photography. I provide a personalised experience that is tailored to the unique needs and goals of each participant. My aim is to help emerging photographers reach their full potential and establish successful careers in the industry.

In addition to the professional development opportunities provided through the mentorship program, participants will have the chance to showcase their work through VX Pictures’ photo agency. I am committed to providing emerging photographers with increased visibility and exposure, enabling them to reach a wider audience and establish their careers in the industry.

By selecting photographers from underrepresented communities, I aim to create a more diverse and inclusive industry. I strongly believe that different perspectives and experiences enrich the art of photography and bring new and exciting narratives to the forefront.

To be considered for this opportunity, photographers should have already undergone some professional training and gained relevant experience in the field. They should be ready to take the next step in their career and showcase their unique vision and storytelling abilities.

While I am looking for exceptional photographers, I also understand that some applicants may be too advanced for this program. In such cases, I will assess each application on its merits and make allowances for those who have not had access to formal education or training but show exceptional skills and potential.

To showcase their photographic experience and skills, applicants should submit a portfolio of stories that demonstrate their personal aesthetic and narrative style. The portfolio should be cohesive, displaying their ability to produce interesting, unexpected, and mature story ideas.

  • Please upload no more than 30 images, in JPG format.
  • The images should be at 72 DPI and no greater than 1440 pixels.
  • Each image must have an IPTC Caption and Date for accurate identification.
  • To ensure easy referencing, kindly label each image with your initials and the corresponding sequence number (e.g. VX-001, VX-002, through VX-030).
